Sorry I've been so quiet through most of this month, you all. Christmas is akin to kryptonite to me. It just carries a lot of heavy baggage, which ramps up the depression I'm already managing, which is exacerbated by SAD... So, you see, I just don't have much to give in December
And, although I may have slept in today and then put a shot of rum in the Coke I had at lunch, the good news is that I do feel myself coming out on the other side of this year's December malaise, which I think was worse than usual anyway because, you know, 2020.
In case you missed it, I did publish a few things earlier in the month. This piece on the (poor) state of our national conversation around Christianity (and what it *should* be so that we can dismantle Christian supremacism), I'm actually quite proud of https://religiondispatches.org/americas-national-conversation-about-christianity-is-fundamentally-unserious-but-not-in-the-way-you-think/
And then this one, taking a closer look at the conspiratorial "voter fraud" terrorism in Texas and how it emerged from the very center of our radicalized GOP.
Stop treating stuff like this as "fringe." Start recognizing the Republican Party as fascist https://religiondispatches.org/christian-terrorist-in-tx-was-paid-investigator-for-prominent-gop-activists-and-donors/

And then there was this piece for @Convo_ist, covering everything you need to know about that "Jericho March" circus in Washington DC but were afraid to ask, or didn't even know how to ask: http://conversationalist.org/2020/12/17/a-spiritual-battle-for-hearts-and-souls-white-evangelical-christians-face-trumps-loss/
While it looks like Republican coup attempts will fail and Trump will (finally!) be out of the White House next month, his radicalized white Christian base, which is favored by the Electoral College, Senate representation rules, and voter suppression, will remain a serious threat
And in 2021, I will continue to monitor, analyze, and expose that threat, though if I can afford to do so, I will publish less short stuff in order to spend more time working on my books. But that can only happen with more support from readers like you: https://www.patreon.com/cstroop
I know a lot of people are tapped out in December, and especially this year, when COVID has destroyed the finances of so many. But if you do have some income to spare to support independent journalism and analysis, I will be deeply grateful, as I am to all my patrons.
The state of journalism and commentary is bad and getting worse. There are a lot of independent writers and outlets that deserve to exist and need reader support.
One I would also like to give a plug to here is @damemagazine, which I've written for twice https://www.damemagazine.com/plans/memberships/

I'm hoping to revive the blog at http://cstroop.com in 2021, but I can't make any promises yet. A lot of ideas have been percolating for me, but I haven't been ready to fully articulate them. And I also need to work on my book projects.
I may experiment with more less finished blog posts meant to help me work out my thoughts and/or start a conversation. We'll see. One thing I certainly need to do in 2021 is to find more time for reading books; that's essential for all of my projects.
As for Patreon, I process patron rewards every few months. I'm sorry if you're still waiting on yours and will be getting some out within the next few days. If you get swag as part of your tier, please note: I can't send it to you if you don't enter your address on Patreon.
Anyone interested can also buy my swag, with slogans like " #EmptyThePews" and "Ask me about my pluralist agenda" here:

I've made a number of infographics that distill some key themes I've spent years thinking about, and I'll likely make more.

My monthly gig with The Conversationalist is going to become an occasional gig in the next couple of months--it was monthly because they wanted coverage of evangelicals and politics through the election and inauguration--so I will need to find a way to replace that income in 2021
I love public speaking gigs, and, whether via Zoom or, post-vaccine, in person again (can't wait!), I'll love you if you book me to come talk and hang out on your campus or with your secular or interfaith or political or other relevant group!

And I'm sure I'll be doing more podcasts, something I generally enjoy.

If December is hard for you like it is for me, then I hope you're also on the upswing now. I hope for all of us that 2021 will bring us much needed relief from the year from hell.
