Just a thought from someone who has escaped an abusive religion, and then the TRA cult. I've noticed that both of these groups are VERY threatened by the idea that people like me can, and do, escape from the dogma. /1
When I bring up my fundamentalist/activist past, the only response I ever seem to get is gaslighting. 'You were never a true believer.' 'You're obviously lying and were never one of us.' 'Your heart was never in the right place if questioning led to where you are now.' /2
I present my story, urging people to simply listen in good faith, maybe learn WHY someone who was proud and evangelical in my views could have done a heel turn. Only it wasn't a heel turn. It was months of agonizing, led up to by years of denying myself free critical thought. /3
And the more people I talk to in this community, the more I understand that my experience is in no way isolated. There are so many of us whos worlds burned around them when they stepped away from the dogma. But we are anything but convenient to the narrative. /4
So they deny that we exist. Gender ideologues know that we're dangerous, because we are proof that it's possible to get out. Don't ever let them shut you down or muddle your experiences with denial. We're trying to reach those with questions. There will be more of us. /5
