Turned on some Tua tape after the wacky low YPA/YPC and discussion of being "NFL Open" on the broadcast--thread of some of the missed opportunities vs. the Raiders:
This should be a touchdown on the first pass play--clean pocket against Cover 2, the seam is wide open once WR is even with MLB and S has hips locked to the out/wheel:
Tua throws the drag on 3rd & 7 against Cover 1--it's probably a first down if its on target but there's also an opportunity for a big play on the corner route to the TE at the top of the screen:
I get that he's reading low to high on this PA boot, but the TE is WIDE open on the deep out--maybe even before the flat route clears the DE:
This 3rd and 5 against Cover 2 is a bit murkier--but after viewing the EZ angle for pocket and considering how bad the Raiders Cover 2 was against the Chargers, I think a QB with his eyes up takes a shot at the vertical to the bottom:
The coaching staff definitely also reigned in the number of deep routes, but just those 4 could easily have been 150+ yards and 10+ more points. Compare to once Fitz enters the game. 3 x 1 to the field, TE Seam against C2 and Fitz takes a shot and misses:
Dolphins come back to the same thing flipped two plays later. Tua has to push and make these type of throws (6/6):
