So, how often are winters bad for the NHS? How many specific years, apart from this one, was the NHS at crisis point, at risk of being overwhelmed, during the cold season?

I couldn't find anything as far back as 2012, but apparently 2011 was a particularly bad year, judging by this article from 2018:
I'm not saying NHS staff aren't struggling rn. But the fact is, the NHS is barely fit for purpose, and it shows EVERY winter. The NHS is the problem. End.
