(THREAD) the complicated history of Lil Wayne and Young Thug’s relationship through the years
2010-2013: Young Thug constantly praised Lil Wayne, saying how he always wanted to work with him and how Wayne was his biggest inspiration in life. he even said he’d work with Wayne over Michael Jackson if given the day opportunity between the two
2014: Birdman brought Thug into the YMCMB family (not actually signed though). Thug met Wayne and according to him the first few times they met, Wayne left him hanging. later that year they got things right and performed together, even collaborating two times on-
their song “take kare” and T.I’s “about the money” remix. before things went bad between them Thug was slated to be on Wayne’s “grindin remix” and claimed they had recorded dozens of songs that year.

2015: Lil Wayne and Birdman’s infamous beef began. While Wayne couldn’t release C5, Thug announced his plans to drop “Tha Carter VI”. Wayne took offense to this due to his current situation and tried to sue him, leading Thug to rename it “Barter 6”.-
through the year, Wayne took a few jabs at thug at concerts, and songs. Things escalated so much that one night Wayne’s tour bus was the shot up and the shooter was found to be Thug’s road manager. records showed they called each other back and forth minutes before the shooting
2016: after the shooting, things seemed to cool down, other than occasional Thug trolling. like acting shocked he wasn’t included in Lil Wayne’s upcoming “Dedication tour” and then his words of “encouragement” when Lil Wayne spoke on retirement
2017: hardly anything between them happened this year. Wayne spoke on thug once i believe, saying he always felt Barter 6 was homage which we all know he’s lying based off previous comments. in 2019, a short snippet leaked of Wayne and Thug and the producer claimed-
that it was recorded 2017. if true, by this year they had started repairing their relationship.
2018: The beef started stirring again when Thug started trolling the week of c5. he began saying it wouldn’t be anywhere as good as “drip too hard” by Lil Baby and Gunna, and the day c5 dropped he announced “Barter 7” with a snippet saying “i think my idol is a hater”.
him and Birdman were almost charged with involvement in the 2015 shooting this year too.
2019: January of this year Thug claimed Wayne was trying to sue him for “Barter 7” and that’s the last we ever heard of it. later this year in an interview with Big Boy, Thug said he doesn’t think Wayne likes him due to being “spoiled by birdman”
2020: january of this year Lil Wayne spoke on Thug in his interview with Drink Champs and claimed him and Thug are all good and teased Thug being on his upcoming album at the time Funeral. the song didn’t make the final album due to thug finding his verse dated.-
through the year everything has been calm. Thug shared a Wayne song on his IG story and even was seen trying out wayne’s skateboard in an LA studio. Thug eventually made it as a feature on Lil Wayne’s “No Ceilings 3” mixtape but it was found to be his verse from-
that song they recorded 2017. last thing between them has been that interview Thug did with Gillie Da Kid where he spoke about when they met and suggested a hit battle between the two
