In case you're wondering about Anne Murray bc it's been so long since she's toured or done the media circuit, here's an update.

75.

Alive and well living in...NOVA SCOTIA!

She moved back home, leaving Toronto *before pandemic*. She said she feels like she won the lottery.
But she's had a very hard year.

She lost Bruce, her brother, in September:
Anne is no fan of Trump. Hates his guts.

(PHEW. You just never know with us white people, ya know? Anne is a confirmed decent person! Yay!)

When Trump tried to overturn the election and people joked Canada should declare war and invade America to liberate them from Trump:
And it gets even better.

Anne doesn't age like the Rex Murphys of the world. She's most definitely a fine wine.

She did the wise thing and turned her back on Snowbirds this year!

No Florida trip like she did every year before.

Instead she's isolating at home in Nova Scotia.
The reason you were probably wondering 'what happened to Anne Murray?' And you don't see her much.

She kept her word: when she said she was done and no comeback 20 years ago, she meant it.
Anne Murray is also a known, confirmed perfectionist.

She retired from the music industry bc her voice as it aged was not 100% by her standards.

In fact she thinks her music colleagues still working don't sound good, implying they should *exit stage*:

However, Anne had agreed to a special tribute show: the 50th Anniversary of "Snowbird"!

With the Nova Scotia symphony orchestra!

To honour not just her but the song's creator, Gene MacLellan. His daughter Catherine was pulling it together.

But sadly cancelled bc of pandemic:
YES.

2020 was the 50th Anniversary of Snowbird which made Anne Murray...*the* Anne Murray!

Such a shame we missed out on that tribute performance, and properly marking it as Canadians.

This is 1970. 50 years ago:
Catherine is a brilliant musician just like her father.

He was constantly writing profoundly powerful songs yet didn't think he was any good.

The man who created a song that had a global impact, becoming an *iconic song for Canada itself*, had no confidence in himself.
George MacLellan ended his life by suicide when Catherine was only 14 years old.

Before Anne left Toronto for Nova Scotia, Catherine interviewed her in her home. They are meeting for the first time.

Here's a short clip.

The film is about 40 minutes streaming at the NFB. It's well worth a watch esp if you've ever struggled with mental illness:
