I try to stay church-adjacent and generous to the good Christians and generally open-hearted because it's my heritage and the church is the people and it wasn't so long ago that I was one of you but honestly...
it's so fucking exhausting logging on to this website and seeing the arguments that happen over and over from the christian world: is racism bad? are women allowed to talk? can gay people exist? is science a conspiracy? is it acceptable to talk honestly about divinity & mystery?
i respect the courage of those who are staying in the fight, trying to queer the bible, reclaim the church, separate jesus from the bullshit of his followers, etc etc etc.... but the fact that you even have to do that is a fucking disgrace and an indictment of the whole religion.
you'll know them by their fruits.

jesus said that, not me.

a tree that makes rotten fruit is a rotten tree, good for nothing but to be burned.

look at the fruit. it is so goddamn rotten.

why are you still trying to graft new life into a rotten tree?
you'll know them by their love.

jesus said that, not me.

look around. christians are known by their bullshit, not their love. if you are a loving christian, you are an outlier.

why do you keep trying to put new wine in old wineskins?
we're all called to be faithful to that which calls, so if following Jesus is what you're supposed to do, keep walking. i'm not gonna tell you not to.

i'm still trying real hard to see the good in it, even though it's not my path.

but it's getting pretty fucking difficult.
this is why i occasionally get so goddamn cranky with the insistence of heterodox Christian theologians who want to retain all the symbols and language of that system. i know there's value in continuity, but is the adjacency to all that bullshit worth it?
after the resurrection, Jesus only hung around 40 days before he was like, "fuck it, i'm out of here. y'all gonna have to get the Spirit and sort this shit on your own".

maybe it's time to just let him go. let God go. let Christ go. let the Bible go. no turning back.
