Hi. Waves.
Remember all that talk about remaining within 1.5°C of warming, or else? Well we're already at 1.2°C.
Is this bad? Yes. https://twitter.com/ed_hawkins/status/1338862201264717827

For one, it means we're on the upper range of this graph from the IPCC special report on 1.5°C. And we've definitely, definitely, left the agriculture-sheltering temperature range of the Holocene behind.
In the special report on 1.5°C, there were many comparisons of 1.5 vs 2°C warming impacts. This blog post by the World Resources Institute's @Kelly_Levin_ summarizes several categories of these. The main takeaway? 2°C is much, much worse that 1.5°C. https://www.wri.org/blog/2018/10/half-degree-and-world-apart-difference-climate-impacts-between-15-c-and-2-c-warming
Every fraction of a degree matters. Another result from Warren et al shows the accelerating impact of warming on biodiversity loss worldwide. The difference between warming levels is staggering.
