The combined number of people injured and killed in shootings in Toronto this year, totalling 216 with two days to go, is the 4th highest in the modern era (2004-2020), surpassed only by 2019 (284), 2018 (229) and 2005's 'Year of the Gun' (231).
The number of gun murders so far this year, at 39, with 2 days to go in 2020, is tied for 6th highest in the modern era, (2004-2020) surpassed in 2019 (44), 2018 (51), 2016 (41), 2007 (44), 2005 (53) and tied with 39 gun murders in 2017.
