You guys... it happened again.

This fella darted out behind my car a block up from my house. I made a u-turn and when I got back, he was standing in my yard like," Hey. I read on the internet you help stray dogs. Help a guy out?"
Was VERY nervous but willing to give me a chance. I lured him up from the street with some treats and into Larry's yard where I could close the gate and keep him safe.
Someone in the neighborhood group said he's been spotted on the run multiple times since FRIDAY. 😟 Notified the Humane Society and he got his mug posted on Facebook.
He's an absolute unit.
It is very cold today and doggo had ice on his feet and whiskers. I ran an extension cord and my office space heater out to the playhouse in my yard where we've been chilling since 9 a.m. Doggo is very interested in what I have to offer.
He had some of Larry's food and a dish of water. Was pretty thirsty. Doesn't appear to have any wounds or ouchies. He is favoring one of his paws but it might just be cold.
Larry is inside and kind of oblivious to the whole situation. I was on my way to get groceries when this happened so he had already been outside, had breakfast, etc.

I'll have a lot of 'splaining to do later on because Doggo has peed on all of Larry's spots in his yard.
His right ear kinda does it's own thing... Such a good boi, too. I've been wearing him down with treats. It is working. 😍
I finally got him to trust me enough for belly access. It is 16 degrees outside and I'm in a kids playhouse giving belly rubs to a stray doggo.. We are going to the shelter at noon so he can get checked out. ❀
He definitely knows how to dog! Knows sit, lay down, outside, shake...
After 3 hours, he finally let me slip a leash around his neck. (I keep this one in the garage for emergencies). Then he looked at me like, "Fine. I'm ready for an adventure and I'll go wherever you take me, human." 😭😍
Umm! Look how *AMAZING* he is in the car!! Just happy to be here, enjoying a nice, warm ride about town with a nice lady. I swear he would have given a compliment to the lady with the nice hat at the red light if he could have. Happy as heck. đŸ„°
Next stop, the Humane Society of Marathon County. I want to get him in and hopefully find a path to his loving home or adoption. I'm trying my best not to start blubbering like a fool over his situation. Who wouldn't be looking for him? ❀
It took some convincing but he's now safe inside at the Humane Society. I am bawling my eyes out in the parking lot.

I can check in on him in a few days and if no luck finding his humans, he'll be up for adoption in 7. ❀
Thank goodness for a glove box full of drive thru napkins. 😭

I'll keep you posted on any Doggo news. I think I'll skip grocery shopping and go home and hug Larry instead. ❀
Larry: 🚹 You smell different. 🚹Just what *kind* of grocery store did you go to this morning and why did it take so long?! 🧐
Me: I'll tell you later Lar, okay?
Larry: Okay Mumma. ❀
Doggo's owner has been notified. Yay!

This isn't the first time Doggo's owners have let him roam...this month. Boo!

If he ever finds his way back to my home again, he'll have a safe place to hang & lots of treats.

What an emotional day. 😔😕
...and the mystery doggo is now back home with his human(s). I hope he stays safe and gets all the loving he wants. I'll be here for him and any other stray who meanders by my house - just like I'd hope my neighbors would be for Larry. ❀
