A thread on #ReturntoPlay #LetThemPlay
I see a terrific number of football players and coaches advocating for #Orange2Red here in CA, in accordance with the stance of the CIF, to give the state its best shot for a season. But advocating for football is not enough . . .

We need to see every sport putting its best foot forward. Soccer is a great example - field hockey and lacrosse are in the Red Tier for return, but soccer is in the Orange??? Soccer should also be prominently advocating for #Orange2Red . . .

Cross country, swim, golf and tennis are in good shape, in the Purple Tier, but they cannot return to play if regions are in Stay-at-Home orders. But even this is confusing, since they are determined as allowable outdoor activities in general even now

We should see tons of advocates from the water polo community out here. Swim is appropriately placed in the Purple Tier, but Water Polo is in the Orange? Yes, there is plenty of contact, but literally in a tub of disinfectant, and contact happens quickly

Baseball and softball in the Red Tier seems good for those sports, but if we are going to advocate #Orange2Red for sports like football, soccer and water polo, then these sports should be #Red2Purple - they are the epitome of socially distanced and minimal contact!

Finally - the argument against indoor sports - Volleyball could argue #Orange2Purple easily enough - socially distanced on the court, minimal contact, and why can't we open the doors, run blowers, etc??? Many gyms are spacious, much safer than many stores that are open!
