Imagine.

Think of the small and simple sacrifice of replacing one 3-hr sports game or movie/show you watch each week.

Now you will watch 3 1hr Come Follow Me or other Gospel related lectures/videos/podcasts or audio.

That is 156 hours a year that you consecrated.

This matters

At normal speed, in a year - you could read/listen to the entire scriptural canon easily with this small sacrifice.

BoM= 26 hrs audio
Bible= 63 hrs
D&C= 15 hrs
PoGP= 3 hrs

Total ~ listening time at 1.0× speed = 107 hrs.

You could go through the Canon almost 1.5 times a yr

At 1.5x listening speed you could get through the entire Canon twice and listen to D&C a 3rd time in the same amount of time you spend watching a single 2-3hr event or movie each week.

BoM= 18hrs
Bible= 42hrs
D&C= 10hrs
PoGP= 2hrs

Total= 72hrs
2x Canon @ 1.5x = 144

Have you ever read the entire scriptural canon all the way through for yourself?

If not or lately - you should. ASAP.

Imagine if it wasn't just a single sports game or movie PER WEEK that you excised from your life - but what if you prioritized that much time to the Lord DAILY?

3 hrs daily dedicated to the scriptures/Gospel may seem like a lot to you - but pause that thought and HONESTLY evaluate how much time you spend each day on:

•Streaming services
•Video games
•Social media
•Etc.

You'll get no sympathy from me. I take the same self-evaluation

At 3 hours a day, you would be consecrating 1,095 hours a year to your spiritual growth and to obedience to God.

Your spiritual gains would be massive.

You could read the entire canon at 1.0x speed once every 36 days, over 10 times in the year listening to 3 hours a day.

Even just 1 hour a day.

[365 hrs/year ÷ 107 hrs of listening time]

You could still finish all the standard works in a year nearly 3 times.

Too difficult to listen for an hour?

Not in spiritual shape for that?

Start lower and take steps like a ladder. As you learn more about the scriptures you will WANT more time.

At 30 mins a day, if you start today - by July 31st of 2021 you will finish the standard works.

If 30 minutes is still too much -

Just focus on reading the Doctrine and Covenants this year.

If you listen to 15 minutes a day, you will finish the D&C in under a month and a half. Start today.

Can you remember to consecrate 15 minutes a day to learning the Word of Jesus?

What about 15 minutes a week?

You will finish the D&C in 40 weeks.

We have no excuse - the amount of time you spend on Babylonian entertainment matters.

It will rack your soul with torment if you find yourself insufficiently knowledgable of what matters eternally at judgment.

Let's not procrastinate our day of repentance.

Start by actually doing what is required of a true spiritual foundation in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Feast for yourself on the Scriptures, the Word of God and treasure them up continually in your heart.

We must understand them

Let's make part of our New Year goals a rededication to taking the things of the Lord and of the Priesthood seriously.

To improving our ability to 'always remember Him', so that we may have His Spirit to be with us.
