The cool thing about not sharing what I’m watching or enjoying on twitter is nobody can yell at me for having a nice time
The messed up thing about media is it can be flawed and imperfect and still have value/be enjoyable. The standard of purity people hold things to on here is, forgive me, so boring
It is still so bizarre to me that the way teens and people in their early 20s have rebelled against the previous generation is to treat moral superiority as social currency. Not a single one of them would hold up to the scrutiny they impose on everyone else
That’s how we get these vicious circles of infighting and dull, puritanical stories - someone or something is deemed Bad, so it gives you clout to disavow them/it, but you always have to be looking for places to point the finger to keep the target off your own back
Nobody can tell the difference anymore between legitimate critique and petty grievances. They’re all treated with equal weight. It’s unsustainable. I look forward to the eventual swing back to nuance and messiness and being allowed to grow
Signed, someone who was exactly that type of tumblr person for way, way too long
