Frank Lampard‘s current situation.

Both IN and OUT views considered.

[THREAD]
Chelsea currently find themselves with 1 win in the last 5 PL games leaving many questioning whether he should be sacked. If Chelsea were under the management of a foreign manager, would they still be in the job? It can be argued that sentiment is keeping many behind Lampard.
With the investment and high quality signings Chelsea have brought in, it’s clear that Chelsea should be in a better position than we currently are. Some would argue that Lampard’s role was to navigate the transfer ban & integrate youth but not the one who can win us titles.
currently Chelsea don’t have a clear system and at times it seems as though we cross and hope for the best without utilising the players in the best possible way. There seems to be an over reliance on systems when it’s going well but a reluctance to change when it isn’t.
Many will also point to the treatment of certain players like Hudson-Odoi & the decision to play Werner on the wing. Lampard has no doubt shown weakness with his in game management and especially timing of his substitutions.
However, whether this should amount to the dismissal of his job is to be debated. At the start of the season, Chelsea fans were clear that this season was for signings to gel and for the gap between us and the top to be cut. However, our 17 game unbeaten run seemed to have
Raised our expectations to become title winners which has perhaps influenced some of the Lampard out claims. There’s no doubt we should not accept mediocrity and as a fan base we are used to instant success thus when a manger is suddenly afforded time, it is a change from before.
But we also have to remember how open ended this season is. Two or three positive results can change the perspective on our PL season. As can 2 or three losses. It’s easy to forget that we started poorly this season & many questioned Lampard’s job before our run.
This just exemplifies that a season isn’t defined after a good run of form or a bad run of form. As fans, we want the best for the club and winning is of high importance. However, recent results could perhaps be down to collective issues rather than just Frank Lampard.
We’ve suffered injuries to key players on the wing recently which has coincided with the start of our poor run. This isn’t to use it as an excuse, but to show an example of external circumstances too.
To conclude the thread. I’d point out that being Lampard in or out is an opinion and everyone is entitled to one. Personally, I would like to see how Chelsea perform in the coming weeks. The season is a rollercoaster and this poor run has brought me back down from the false
Expectation that the unbeaten run had raised me to when I was aware that this season was for signings to gel and the gap to the top to be cut. This is not to say that we should allow results to spiral but with the openness of this league, im aware that a few good results
Can change our outlook. There is limits to this and if our results continue to decline and Lampard repeats the same mistake again, it could see him lose his job before the end of the season and rightly so. For now, I’d like to wait and see what happens in the PL and also the UCL.
Finally, I’m aware of those that don’t believe Lampard will take us to the next level & get this squad to win titles. I appreciate that Is a valid point too. However, the 3 year plan is one we’ve been told of & Lampard will be judged on hence it feels premature to judge atm.
