Getting lots of questions like “I want to get into XYZ [vuln research, low-level hacking, exploit dev, etc.], but not sure where to start”
Start doing whatever excites you
Start doing whatever excites you
More specifically: scan some related literature with your emotional radar enabled; choose a specific direction which is emotionally attractive; pick a task which is challenging but possible, and (important) is compact time-wise; dive in and (important) solve it until completion
The compactness requirement is important, because until you gather a lot of experience in the target area, your choices are unlikely to be wise anyway, hence you don’t want to spend too much on them
The completing requirement is important, because the tail of this process tends to be more will-driven than emotional, while it’s mandatory to solve specific problems and not just “tinker around” in order to move forward
Specifically the emotion of excitement seems to carry the out-of-the-box signal that effectively transcends the limits of an uninformed reasoning mind... not to be confused with the peculiar emotional pressure of popularity and hype, btw
