Khan Academy is free. MasterClass is $180 a year.

The Zoom classes your kid is taking costs taxpayers an average of $16,000 per student, per year.
In California they spend over $20,000 per student for K-12 public school.

So a class of 20 students on Zoom costs the taxpayers over $400,000.
Lots of people who earn money from this system are offended at these posts which simply state the prices. Of course they are defensive... the numbers are damning. Everyone knows it’s a scam.

“But teachers are important / work hard” — not the point - the price is unfair
It should be noted that this exorbitant waste most negatively affects the poor and working class — its their wages who go to bureaucrats, cronies and useless admins
hundreds of replies say some variation of “You don’t get it, school is important” / “Khan academy isn’t as good as school” / “Teachers are good”

Not one post actually defends the exorbitant ripoff of the taxpayer

Water is important too — doesn’t mean it should be $44 a bottle
The oldest trick in the book for politicians is to call some scam that enriches cronies and furthers their power by a name that people support — like “education”. This helps them defend against cutting the scams because it sounds like your cutting education
Me: The cost of $320,000 to taxpayers for 20 students is enough to:
1) hire your own PhD teacher at $100k
2) hire 2nd teacher at $60k
3) rent a mansion at $8k/ mo
4) buy MasterClass, iPads & laptops for each kid
5) pay $24k for guest speakers & sports

Twitter: Y U hate teacherz?
What if parents had the $16k & could spend it how they want on education?

They could pool resources & do exactly the above. A family of 4 could take their $64k & hire a tutor or part time helper to work with online resources

50 parents could pool thier 800k for a mini school
What would that do for communities?
Thousands of tiny schools— teachers on local contract with families.
Great teachers would thrive & be able to command higher salaries — the poor would have the same $16k each to compete for those teachers

money would flow to the best options
I love teachers - my brother is a teacher, my mom has done teaching. The public loves teachers.

Teachers should be more angry at this system than anyone — the $16k per student robbed from the taxpayers doesn’t enrich teachers...it enriches cronies & useless administrators.
Because teachers are so appreciated by the public and because we place such a high priority on education, it’s extremely easy for politicians to make it cost far more than it should and use the skiminings for crony admin jobs & contracts
The poorest communities are hit hardest by this— wasteful spending attracts all manner of grifter & profiteer.
Go to a school board meeting in a poor community— its full of grifters trying to get some of the taxpayer millions... anyone who speaks out is called “anti education”.
We need a revolution led by teachers — they need to break away from the corrupt system and stop supporting the current politicians who use educators as cover for cronyism & scams — stop living in fear of administrators & worry more about the actual bosses: the taxpayers & parents
