In the last 2 games, #mufc have scored 2 goals from quite similar 'patterns of play':
— patient 3 man build up at the back
— one from the frontline dropping in to collect
— another hugging the shoulder of defense & scoring
It's a very well worked routine.

For the 3 man build up at the back, one of the pivot drops — Matic for the 1st, Fred for the 2nd (we do it a lot)
By passing it around the back & then breaking quickly in just 2 passes, the opponent is caught off guard.
It's smart, efficient football that's fantastic to watch.

I'm sure there are more examples, I just found these 2 while re-watching the last 2 games.
United are working on developing such patterns for all kinds of situations in all areas of the field. As they get more used to playing together, they'll get better at executing these.

With our counters we've shown how well we can turn defense to attack. Here we're breaking down defenses with quick set patterns.
#mufc want to play quick, direct, attacking football. It's a work in progress & doesn't have an exotic name but it's effective & getting better.
End.

PS: before posting I sent this to @utdarena to make sure I didn't get anything wrong. I had originally written just 'passing around the back' & he suggested changing it to '3 man buildup with a pivot dropping'
He's always been super helpful & I'd like to thank him for that.
