*10 wishes for 2021*

Even by our standards, 2020 has been a crazy year! As the calendar rolls over once more, here are our top 10 wishes for 2021.

#BarnetFC
1. Getting fans inside grounds

It’s unlikely to happen within the next few weeks, but hopefully we can all get back to watching the Bees in the flesh soon. For all streams and commentary, nothing beats watching a game live.
2. Staying Up

The Conference North and South are littered with the skeleton of fallen giants. No club is too big to be relegated and we are in for an almighty scrap. Staying up should be the first target.
3. Back Flowers

Tim Flowers is the 21st new managerial appointment since 2010. If nothing else, the last decade shows that instability doesn’t work. With experience at this level, he needs to be fully backed. More than anything, we just need stability. If we stay up, he stays.
4. Continue to professionalise

The Head of Performance role is arguably as significant as Flowers’ appointment. Specialist support on health, fitness and player care is key. Even in the NL, standards have changed significantly since 2015. It’s high time we caught up.
5. Keep Communicating

Adam & co have done a sterling job in improving the quality of communication coming out from the club. With the team’s performance and longer-term issues over the Hive, keeping this up will be more important than ever.
6. Experiment with ticket pricing

The £199 season ticket was a great initiative. Now lets see some innovation with the on-day pricing. It’s tricky balancing the £ how about dropping midweek prices or a 3 for £30 to welcome fans back in the Spring?
7. Video Highlights

The current streaming provider is excellent. Once fans are back in, let’s keep a high level of video production - at least for the highlights after every game. For years, we’ve lagged behind here; just watch the Gateshead game from 2015.
8. Invest in the academy

The news that the academy would continue is a welcome one. An efficient, streamlined academy can pay for itself and our track record in producing young players has been excellent in recent years. The new venture will take time, but will be worth it.
9. Sharpen up recruitment

1-2 dud signings can cost the club £50,000 in wasted wages. For similar cost, high quality data analytics and an efficient scouting network could pay dividends. Young, hungry and with high resale value should be our priority targets here.
10. Supporters Association

The last 6 months has mostly compounded, rather than created, some big questions about the club’s direction on and off the pitch. Barnet fans are are a broad church, but a formal association would be a good first step towards a more harmonious club.
