Chelsea's problems this season. I will be speaking on their manager, their new signings, and how this season is going compared to last season.

[A Thread]
To start with I'll be speaking on their manager, Frank Lampard. When Lampard was appointed as the new manager of Chelsea in the summer of 2019, many Chelsea fans agreed with the decision. He was a club legend, he knew what the club was about, and he was ready to grow as a manager
Lampard's first season brought some decent results. Having been handed a transfer ban, Chelsea couldn't strengthen, apart from Pulisic, who signed in January. Chelsea finished 4th, with only GD separating 3rd and 4th. He also reached the FA cup final, which he lost to Arsenal.
Having secured UCL qualification, Chelsea went on a spending spree. Big names like Werner and Ziyech were already in the bag, with Havertz, Silva, Mendy and Chilwell following suit. In total, Chelsea spent over £200 million in the summer, making them the highest spenders.
Chelsea began the 2020/21 season as a potential threat to Liverpool's crown. The likes of Man Utd had picked up only 3 points from their first 3 games, but Spurs looked like they were competing with Chelsea. Chelsea were playing some really good football, but things got worse.
Chelsea's summer signings initially looked like really good acquisitions, with Thiago Silva and Edouard Mendy looking particularly impressive. As the season has gone on, however, we have seen most of their signings look underwhelming
Werner was brought in to add goals to the side, yet he has failed to find the net in his last 10. Ziyech has struggled with injuries, and Frank Lampard doesn't know where to play Havertz, with Mason Mount preferred in the midifeld.
Edouard Mendy, who started so well, has become a bit of a liability, and Ben Chilwell has looked hit and miss at left-back. The only shining light has been Thiago Silva, who has brought experience to the side. With the total spend reaching over £200 million, it looks worrying.
The question is, however, why have most of them looked poor? Well, the answer is simple: Chelsea may have bought more than they actually need. Chelsea lost 12 games last season, whilst conceding 54 goals. They conceded more goals than any other top 10 side in the league last year
It was very clear that Chelsea needed to fix the defence, and they did so by signing Mendy, Silva and Chilwell. Firstly, Chilwell was suspect defensively, yet he was still bought. Secondly, Silva lacks pace and will not stay long. Thirdly, Mendy has started to become a concern.
So, what can we see from Chelsea's summer business? In truth, they were the envy of every other side in the league, yet most of their signings haven't lived up to the hype. They now have 3 first-team strikers, when Frank plays with a 4-3-3. Also, they still look shaky at the back
Now, is Frank Lampard good enough? Almost every Chelsea fan got excited when he was appointed, but he only had 1 year of managerial experience. He had failed to get Derby promoted, whilst Sarri finished 3rd and won the Europa League, and still got the boot.
In my opinion, Frank Lampard looks out of his depth, but Chelsea have to stick by him. Tuchel has literally been sacked by PSG, so going after him might not be the answer. Allegri looks like Mourinho 2.0, and Nagelsmann isn't available, as of now.
Therefore, is it worth getting rid of a manager now when there isn't enough quality out there? By waiting until the end of the season, Chelsea may still make it into the UCL, with the quality they have. After that, they must make a change. IMO, they should go for Nagelsmann.
Finally, a poll. Are you happy with Lampard? Also, many thanks for reading. Don't forget to like and RT and I may do more threads in the future.
