This on the front page of @thetimes today and across the media is extremely frustrating. Meditation, along with therapy and medication, has saved my life. It’s not for everyone I know but it has helped so many who struggle with their mental health. It could help many more but....
...with headlines/stories like this it’s going to put people off. Please consider a more equal & fair view @rhysblakely @roosvonk @Radboud_Uni 4,000 people were interviewed. It’s hardly a big study. It seems unfair to label meditation as damaging for everyone as you’re now doing.
Mindfulness/meditation comes in so many different forms. Just check out app @InsightTimer to see what I mean. It’s like physical exercise-again there’s so many various types-and each form of exercise will work in different ways for different people. It’s the same with meditation.
But to lump all forms of meditation/mindfulness together and say they all ‘lead to narcissism and spiritual superiority’ is really inaccurate and damaging. Please consider this in your disseminating of this research that’s been done @rhysblakely @roosvonk @Radboud_Uni Thank-you.
