A few things regarding the sentencing yesterday #FreeLoujain.

I've seen a few say how amazing it is that Loujain will be released soon. While this is true, please do not forget this 'release' is not FREEDOM.

Freedom is not conditional.

This release 100% is.

It was because Loujain dared to act FREELY, to fight for collective freedom to demand equal rights that she was unjustly charged and sentenced for her activism.

Loujain's release in 2021 - while a long overdue act that she so rightfully deserves - is not freedom.

Freedom = Justice.
Justice for torture
Justice for trauma and the indelible effects of solitary confinement, torture, forced separation from family.
Justice for forced kidnapping
Justice for psychological torture
Justice for her family who have suffered too.

#FreeLoujain
Freedom = Justice because if we look away from all of the injustices Loujain has faced - if we deny accountability to accept a release as our collective win as activists who support #FreeLoujain - we deny the harm that those injustices have caused.
