On Observer Radio tonight Dave says Brodie Lee was tested for COVID before every AEW show and was tested MANY times in the hospital. He never tested positive for COVID. "That can be ruled out".
Good thing everyone waited a whopping two days to learn the cause of death before writing some kind of tone-deaf, insensitive column. That would've been rough!
Dave doesn't have much more in terms of specifics than he did yesterday, again reiterates that Lee's lungs "just stopped working", he doesn't know why. "The key people" in AEW did know for quite awhile that it was bad.
Dave again says the family didn't want it out there while he was sick, Brodie didn't want the publicity, "He certainly didn't want any photos of him in that condition".
And for those snarkers who are going to say "WHAT IS DAVE'S SOURCE" this all comes a minute after he said he talked last night to Tony Khan, not that he said that's where he heard it from, but it's a safe assumption.
Dave says that he's never seen this kind of outpouring for a wrestler's passing. Even for bigger stars and for other wrestlers that were known to be well liked. His only comparable is if Owen Hart had died during the age of social media, he'd have gotten this kind of reaction.
(Ok right after he gives Eddie Guerrero as a comparable as well. Still, his overall point is how beloved Brodie was in the grand scheme of decades of wrestling.)
