Despite the fact that the #Armenian side denies its participation in the murder of two #Azerbaijan|is in Askeran (the first deadly incident of #NagornoKarabakh conflict) on February 22, 1988, Vitali Balasanyan confesses that the first bullet was released by him.
Although he justifies his act as for security of Armenians, the incident happened while the column of hundreds of Azerbaijani protestors marched from #Aghdam to #Khankendi, to protest against the illegal Armenian referendum about seperating #NagornoKarabakh from #Azerbaijan.
The protestors were stopped at #Askeran by Armenian Armed forces and two men died. After the death of Ali Hajiyev and Bakhtiyar Guliyev Armenian side denied its participation in it, claiming that it was done by Azerbaijani police.
Later on 27-29 February the planned #Sumgait “pogrom” started, with cameramen who were informed about addresses and were ready to record. After Sumgait, Armenians got their planned reason to invade #Azerbaijan’s territory with armed forces, claiming they protect Armenians.
