This meme includes Muammar Gaddafi, who deciseively not assasinated by France, indeed none of the people listed as assasinated (at least since 2000) were assasinated by France.
France's legacy of colonialism in Africa is something to be condemned.
But this ain't it, chief. https://twitter.com/staunchmarxist/status/1343533768838160386
It's funny how people obsessed with imperialism let their ideology lead the way in spite of facts. And in doing so remove any agency from the people their ideology claims to liberate by saying they're either pliant marxists or tools/brainwashed by US/European imperalism.
The fact of the matter is, the world exists outside of a one-dimensional spectrum of US (bad) - Everyone opposing the US (good).
The fact is that people from the global south can have grievences separate to US military interests. Denying that imo is itself subjugation.
Colonialism has deep legacies that continue to tear communities in Africa apart, they need to be acknowledged, they need to be addressed, but jamming every single thing that happens in a continent of 1.2 billion people into this legacy/spectrum is down-right insulting.
Gadaffi was one of the most vicious dictators, one that threatened to kill entire cities when they protested against him. Reducing the grassroots, massive and locally-led opposition to him to being 'useful idiots and cia suckers who assasinated on behalf of France. is not helpful
Climate change didn't kill hundreds of thousands of Syrians.
Assad did. Mercilessly and violently over 9 years.
France didn't assasinate Gadaffi, revolutionaries who were tired of his merciless and violent rule did.
To pretend otherwise (for either) is a giant cop out.
