So... my mom thinks Star Trek brainwashed me as a kid. 🙁
I'm honestly so worried about her. She was watching Fox News so I came over and told her that I was concerned about her watching the propaganda. Then I saw the headline. 😬
"American Rights Under Assault by Government Lockdown." WTF? How to they allow this shot to air?? The lockdown is saving lives!!
☣
She said some nonsense about "small businesses losing livelihoods" but wouldn't listen when I tried to explain that was because of the gov's refusal to support its citizens in a pandemic, not because a virus is forcing us to isolate.

I don't want her to bury her 90-year-old mom.
I tried to explain that Fox News & big news companies' modus operatus is manipulating people, creating fear, anger, and contention to keep people hooked.
🎣
She thinks because she's 58 that she's immune to emotional manipulation & because I'm 20 I think less critically & am more naive. 🤨

Uh... we're all homo sapiens here... all prone to emotional manipulation & propaganda. The difference is that I'm *aware* of it.
🧐
After I told her I was worried that Fox was feeding her dangerous propaganda about "evil government lockdowns" she told me that what I watched as a kid must have brainwashed me.

So... Pink Panther, Johnny Test, and Star Trek? She said yeah.

Oh boy.

I don't know what to do.
🤦
I hate arguing with my parents. I know contention & strong emotion is exactly what Fox News intends to sow.

I wish there was some way to convince her not to get glued to the TV. Watch a nature documentary or something.
😥
Oh yeah, she bought my dad a Trump hat for Christmas.

My dad hates politics.

Also, I can hear the MyPillow guy as I type this.
This is hopeless.
