Yep. In the past few months I was followed by people and then they DM'd me trying to tell me how awful their lives were. More lately I'm seeing a lot of "gofundme" tweets and then there are the birthday tweets...

that everyone is affected. Also, if people keep asking for money in particular, Twitter is bound to clamp down on it -- particularly if stories of fraud start emerging. And unfortunately, they will.
