Barbarik ( the greatest warrior)
- was the Son of Ghatotkach & grandson of bheem
He learnt warfare frm his grandmother hidimba.
Before Mahabharat began Shri krishna asked everyone how many days will they take to finish the war alone?
Bhishma said he would take 20 days...
Guru drona said he would take 25 days. Karna said 24days, arjun said he will take 28 days..but barbarik replied he would take just "1 minute" for him to win the battle...shri Krishna was astonished..

The reason behind this is the powers bestowed upon barbarik by Maa Kamakhya...
He was awarded with 3 powerful arrows :
1. The 1st arrow would mark his enemy with red ink.
2. The 2nd arrow would mark the things that he wanted to save
3. The 3rd Arrow would destroy enemy target marked with red ink or destroy everything unmarked.

Guru of barbarik asked...
him to swear by 2 promises as guru dakshina-
1. Barbarik wouldn't use the arrows for his personal vengeance
2. Barbarik would always "fight for the weaker side" in a battle.

When Krishna asked him about the side he was planning to fight in Mahabharat. Barbarik told him ...
he wishes to fight for the Pandavs as they were the weaker side.
Bt krishna revealed the paradox of his impossible promise.
Since the arrows made him the most powerful warrior whichever side he joined would make the other side weaker. And he would end up switching sides...
infinitely till he destroyed everyone but himself.
So to avoid this Krishna asked barbarik for his head.. but barbarik expressed that he wanted to witness the epic battle.
Krishna promised him that even after his head was separated from his body his head would be in a conscious..
state & would be placed on a hill overlooking the battlefield so that he could witness the whole battle.
He was a true devotee of lord Krishna and he severed his own head.
Bheem then took his head and placed it on the hill top.
After the war, the pandavs argued as to who...
was responsible for their victory.
Shri krishna told them that barbarik should be allowed to make this decision as he was neutral to the whole war.
Barbarik concluded that it was Shri krishna alone who was responsible for Pandav's victory.
His advices & presence...
were the most crucial.

Since barbarik made such a big sacrifice for the pandavs shri krishna told him that he will be worshipped in kalyug by Krishna's name.
Barbarik is known & worshipped as "Khatu shyam Ji" 🙏🏻🌼
