A thread of my favorite underrated #Bollywood films (so let’s set DDLJ, Sholay, Andaz Apna Apna aside). These are the movies I’m most likely to recommend to others when asked for suggestions, movies that have made an impact and a permanent place in my heart.

The story has been heard for generations. #AvinashTiwary & #TriptiDimri ‘s version presents a picture of what “crazy in love” truly means. Romance, soul, tragedy, while essentially being a cautionary tale of mental health, #LailaMajnu is powerful. #Bollywood

“Masoom” (1983)

#Masoom shows how DK & Indu’s happy family falls apart after DK discovers he has a son with another woman. The film sensitively explores the effects of infidelity on both the marriage & the children. #NaseeruddinShah & #ShabanaAzmi are brilliant. #Bollywood
