honestly I think the main problem with this sort of argument is that it ignores the fact that the internet has fundamentally changed since we were kids on it, and so much of it has consolidated into shared spaces that were previously separated before

i too was a 12 year old in the early 2000s that stumbled onto explicit content and learned how to navigate around it, but this was made far, far easier that my main internet social gathering places were not where i was seeing this material
my main social gathering places were neopets, subeta, gaia online- spaces online that were specifically curated for kids, or at least, for a younger audience that didn't allow explicitly adult material, and this was very common mode of internet usage for people my age back then
now? kids are on twitter, instagram, tiktok alongside eeeeeeveryone else. there are no real online spaces specifically outlined for child/early teen demographic, or at least, none that are in any way as popular/widespread as the big general population social networks are now
and yes this.... really kind of sucks! it does suck that we as adults now are in the same social gathering spaces as children, especially when parts of our life experiences and interests are fundamentally at odds for what's safe for them to experience!
i understand the frustration in being criticized for posting adult material when you're doing your best to keep in within an adult circle. i get that it's annoying having to constantly monitor your social circle to prevent children from entering it.
and by no means do i condone harassments campaigns of artists/creators creating (harmless) adult material that they're trying to limit to their own adult spaces.
HOWEVER!
this is, unfortunately, the nature of the beast. since the consolidation of the behemoth that is the internet, unfortunately, kids are going to be in our spaces. it's a reality that we cannot change.

to say that the children of today's internet should interact with adult material as we did when we were their age is just... being willfully and fundamentally misinformed about how interaction with internet social circles works now. we cannot bring back 2009.
as for my solution to this?
i have none lmao i'm a shitposting account and kind of a dumbass. it's a sucky situation all around, but at the very least, what we can do is not pretend like nothing has changed online in the decade(s) since our childhoods.
