Should I do more daredevil or should I write? I do not appear to have spoons for much else.
If anybody wants to sway me towards grumping about daredevil, you could help me buy a pizza. https://ko-fi.com/karidru
All right more #BlindYelling about Daredevil it is. I have pizza and soda and complete and utter lack of executive function today so here we go, EP 13.
oh, Ben went to Matt's church. It's his funeral now. And it is being performed by Matt's priest, anyway.
Oh gosh. Ben's wife talking to Karen is quite a scene. I guess I'm invested.
I know I have OPINIONS about this show but the characters are really well done.

I think Karen is beginning to suspect.
And they're doing something interesting. Karen says "what if they find out what I've done" and Matt thinks she means talking to Fisk's mother but she means killing Wesley.
Fisk is looking over his accounting and the numbers are weird. "I'll have Leland look over them..."

O really.
I think Leland will not make your numbers better.
Honestly if I was wilson I would have two money men who did not know each other because I am not gonna math all that and I know the temptation would be a LOT.

I don't know if purposeful but I find that when people write about blindness (literal) they tend to also write about blindless (figurative). Suddenly this show is all about what people see versus what is hidden from them.
Fun fact- blind meant hidden before it meant sightless.
Fun fact- blind meant hidden before it meant sightless.
oh Leland you gonna die.
tfw you really wanna see somebody gets what's coming to them but now you're super mad that the person who's going to make that happen is worse than they are.
OK no i was right the first time.
Another parallel we have here is Wilson is pushing everyone away (or killing them or whatever) and so is Matt. They are both so sure they have to do whatever it is they need to do alone.
I would actually put Wilson ahead. He knew he needed Wesley and he knows he needs Vanessa.

I keep yelling about Vanessa because everyone is so sure she's going to be his undoing and while that would be the trope I'd expect here, I do not want that to be the case.
I WANT friendship to be motherfucking magic, OK?
I WANT friendship to be motherfucking magic, OK?
So one of my parlor tricks is I have most name meanings memorized. Vanessa means butterfly. I wonder if she will transform.
One of the things I have to retract in my crit of this show is I thought it was leaning into major copaganda. It is not.
Point. And it IS doing both of those things. I do think "vigilantes can do necessary things..." was NOT a great message to be putting into shows any time in the last decade. https://twitter.com/twwings/status/1343748363108446208
No, reading murder mysteries isn't going to make you a killer and reading dubconny romances isn't going to make you rape anybody- quite the reverse in fact. Putting conundrums of morality in front of people will make them contemplate morals and that's a good thing. But...
Art shapes culture. What is tolerated in your media will slowly start to shape what you think of as normal, as acceptable. It will show you what society values. And if you have a culture unused to convincing people NOT to be violent, and then you throw a bunch of vigilante shows-
at it, well I do not think Fight Club will create Tyler Durden if he was not already there but I do think that if you already have a critical mass of Tyler Durdens walking around, a bunch of this kind of show may not be HELPING. Am I making sense?
At THIS juncture in our history I must say that thinking the police can be cleaned up is a conservative viewpoint.
Suit is acquired and Melvin is still best character and I hope he is having a good day.
Final fight of the season, I must assume, between DD and Fisk. Interestingly, they are having it in a blue lit alley which is quite the change from the weird yellow this show lights the city with, which is, I suppose, meant to be sodium vapor lamps. (it is unconvincing.)
Oh yeah. Karen knows.
I know everybody wants me to do season two but I am TIRED.
I did like how Fisk realizes he has been striving to destroy the city the whole time. And I also think everybody who has been listening to me ramble should read Shadowshaper.

If I were teaching some college lit course about NYC in fiction I would 100% assign some kind of essay question pitting these two works against one another.
By the way, I love sodium vapor lighting an unreasonable amount and we are slowly losing all of it, replaced by newer lighting and I HATE IT. Leave our cities orange!
and also colorful otherwise. Street art all the things.
