For many years #Azerbaijan officially was asking @UNESCO to send fact-finding mission to territories occupied by #Armenia where 927 libraries, 60 mosques, hundreds of historical monuments, palaces/museums were destroyed as we all find out after liberation of these territories. /1
UNESCO has ignored all these repeated official requests from Azerbaijan for many years. /2
In 2018 GeneralDirector of @UNESCO, @AAzoulay was asked again by the minister of foreign affairs of Azerbaijan to send UNESCO mission to occupied territories, but she responded that “UNESCO is humanitarian organisation and does not want to interfere into political affairs”. /3
This is according to @HikmetHajiyev (foreign policy adviser of @presidentaz) is documented in diplomatic protocol/archive of the official meeting./4
So what did change in @UNESCO’s policy? They sent request to #Azerbaijan now to have permission to send a mission, to come and check if everything is ok with Armenian- #Christian heritage, with churches and museums? /5
This is disgusting level of hypocrisy, discrimination based on religion, nationality and ethnic origin. There is no other explanation. It is so obvious and so overwhelming. What a shame! /6
I suggest @UNESCO sticks to its own policy now and “does not interfere into political affairs”. Or they should finally openly and publicly declare that they care more about Christian and Armenian cultural heritage rather than Azerbaijani culture and heritage in our region/7
and only for protection of Armenian heritage they are ready to intervene into political affairs
I am confused. Hypocrisy is very confusing thing, I must say./8

Photo by @REZAphotography - liberated Aghdam city after 30 years of Armenian occupation. No stone stayed unturned. @UNESCO UNESCO did not want to send fact-finding mission here for 30 years./9
