/ Let's increase the min wage in TX. When more people earn a living wage, we'll see a decrease in need for welfare programs. We must put value on all jobs, & decrease the wage gap. Ppl working FT should be able to keep a roof overhead, food on the table, seek medical help.
/ Until we raise the min wage & pay workers a living wage, we are going to continue to wrestle with food & housing insecurity & poor health outcomes among a swath of our population. Several TX House Members have pre-filed minimum wage bills. Mine is HB 615.
/ I read about CEO Dan Price. In 2015 he announced a min. salary of $70K for all his employees. No one was fired. This year they reduced wages for a while, then increased. There are other companies like Costco that have paid employees well, and have continued to be successful.
/ Raising the min wage helps the economy, not hurts. People are able to provide for themselves & save, giving them dignity. They buy things which keeps the economy going. When people don't make a living wage, they lose hope and a small setback can start a downward spiral.
/ Join me in supporting paying workers a living wage - and raising the minimum wage in Texas. #txlege
