something to think about, my fellow white people... the media controls how we see the news and how we perceive things at times. the media needs to do their part in being anti-racist. have you ever noticed that when a crime is committed by someone who is not white, even if they
are already in custody, their photo/mug shot is often in the front page or on our tv screen? pay attention the next time you watch the news. I have heard or seen multiple stories about the Nashville suicide bomber today and none of them have shown a photo of this white man.
when you’re walking down the street late at night and feel a tinge of something that puts you on high alert when you see a black person, it’s not because black people are inherently dangerous. that’s not true. it is because certain things influence us to think that way. it is our
job to recognize that and address our own biases, whether they are implicit or not.
