Just wanted to say: It is absolutely OK to like or dislike any character for any reason (or no reason). Sometimes we can explain coherently and rationally why we like/dislike a character; sometimes it's just a visceral YES/nope and we can't. That's okay.
I don't support shaming people because of who they like or dislike, and when it comes to likes, I don't support arguing with them about it AT ALL. Even if they give a reason for it and it seems like that explanation isn't factually correct or doesn't hold together.
It could be that this is actually a visceral like that they're trying to explain rationally but can't quite. It could be that they misunderstand canon. It doesn't matter. This is a character that someone finds joy in and it's a crappy thing to do to try to take that away.
My bff despises my favorite character from a certain franchise. I don't hate her faves, but I'm not overly fond of a couple that she's generally cool with. That's okay. We leave it be. If two friends can do this, people who don't know each other offline should be able to.
Express your opinions in your own work and your social media, absolutely, but just... don't argue with someone in *their* space about why they shouldn't like X. It's bullying, and it doesn't do anything to improve the fandom community. /end
