What do I tell patients with COVID that are well enough to be discharged from the ED? 👇 (a brief thread) 1/7
The 1st med needs a script. I can’t tell u if it works, some very smart doctors believe it is does, and many smart doctors believe it should be not taken until proven effective. Trials are going on now, of course that is not helpful to you. Please discuss with your doctor. 3/7
The other meds do not require a script. Again, I can’t say they work. The same smart doctors think they do, many think they don't. They are generally safe. Aspirin is not safe for everyone, but I believe it is very safe for you (if appropriate). 4/7
MOST IMPORTANTLY, this is pulse oximeter. There is treatment that is proven to work if your oxygen levels are low. This is an easy way to tell if they are low. If this number here stays below 92%, please call ur doctor. If it stays below 90%, come right back to the ER. 5/7
I'm sorry I can't be more certain about the treatment, this is a new virus and there is so much we don't know.

So you have some choice then. Some like to take meds, some don't. I'm happy to tell you what I would do if you like.

Any questions...

What would I do? 6/7
Well...I might take these (vitamins), I don't see how they can hurt.

I think I would take this (aspirin), I can see how this might help.

And this (Ivermectin)...not sure, but if I was higher risk, I would.

Bye now, do remember what I said about the PULSE OXIMETER!! 7/7
