Got to watch #WonderWoman1984 last night, which was partially filmed @NMNH @smithsonian! As an actual #museumcurator of #gems and #minerals at the Smithsonian, I have some thoughts:
1. It’s so cool that one of the characters is a geologist/gemologist 💎 and that the movie features museum curators #womeninstem!
2. The idea of a “lithologist” made me chuckle.
3. Maxwell Lord would have had to fill out a proper loan request and had a legitimate research project via a research institution in order to borrow any specimen from the Smithsonian.
4. Quartz (var. citrine) does not have perfect cleavage like the prop in the movie 🤭!
5. Being both a geologist and a zoologist must have meant a lot of time in graduate school for Kristen Wiig.
6. @sabrinabsholts @BrianaPobiner we have the perfect Halloween costumes set out for us as Smithsonian curators: #anthropologist #wonderwoman and #geologist #ww84cheetah.
