Please stop blaming the public for the second wave. We have been on level1 since September. Restaurants have been open since June and family gatherings have been allowed since August.
Although government has been warning about a second wave for months, they have not increased capacity at all - they rather stole relief money and are now blaming the public.
Alcohol and trauma-related hospitalisation always peak in December - why have we not added any capacity in 9 months when we knew a second wave was coming?
We literally had a better than best case scenario regarding covid until now - and yet the government is still not prepared.
If the problem is non-compliance with regulations - surely more regulations aren't the solution? Have we checked if the regulations actually work at all - since there is very little data to support the idea that lockdown led to a decline in covid-cases initially
We are basically setting what's left of our economy ablaze once again - based on very little evidence that it will work. My heart bleeds for the tourism and hospitality industry that just made it through initial lockdown.
Do not praise this government or this president - we are in this situation because of their incompetence and arrogance. Because we banned warm chicken in Woolworths rather than building beds and buying ventilators.
In conclusion - we are governed by incompetent idiots - don't be one yourself.
