It’s worth remembering:

When you click on an article, you are funding that website.

For better or worse, your click chooses which outlets are profitable and which are not. It can keep people in jobs and even decide how much people get paid.

You have that power. Choose wisely.
Support websites and writers you enjoy and trust.

Don’t give your click to those you don’t.

It can make a difference.
People usually won’t talk about clicks because it’s somewhat of a dirty word in journalism.

It’s why people hide information behind clicks or post deliberately volatile pieces to “evoke thought” - or provoke reaction.
And I’ll say, openly and honestly, when I first started writing about wrestling, clicks meant money. And more clicks meant more money.

So I wrote what I would even look back at as clickbait articles.

However, I soon learned reputation means more and integrity means more...
Now, I won’t claim to be the last bastion of good journalism, but now I at least try to be the opposite of clickbait and just provide engaging content that I can be proud of and that I’d like to read.

The lesson I learned, though, was how valuable my click is as a reader.
