For 59 yrs, Congress passed a defense authorization bill that's become law. The NDAA authorizes military spending, including salaries & benefits for service members & families. This year's NDAA includes cybersecurity provisions after the largest cyber attack in our history. (1/3)
Trump vetoed this bill, jeopardizing our national security, in part because this year's NDAA renames military bases that invoke the Confederacy. This is the latest example of Trump's sustained effort to use racism & hatred for political purposes, and it's utterly appalling. (2/3)
Today, the House will override Trump's veto. Some in @GOP may be willing to pass #NDAA, but the emboldening and legitimization of hate of under Trump will be his lasting legacy, as will the fact that Republicans should have vetoed this hatred long ago & were largely silent. (3/3)
