thinking about b-movies, low art, and tarantino this morning...

in this new age of hyper-moralized media consumption what tf is going to happen to the history of exploitation cinema? is maybe some of the Tarantino hate coming from his insistence that these films are important?
if we aren't able to preserve and appreciate the nasty underbelly of art then i seriously worry for what kind of culture can possibly develop

i'm not even that freaky, but even my tastes are becoming more unacceptable by the day (esp since im trans)
to be clear its fine to hate Tarantino lol. He's an annoying nerd freak. The specific moralism around his work interests me though. Theres a certain puritan reactionary culture attitude on the rise I feel his work is being pulled into.
the higher brow example i guess would be David Lynch

i don't think a film like Blue Velvet would be accepted by todays didactic moral culture. its so focused on triggering your deepest darkest emotions without telling you how to feel about them. it lets you sit with yourself
