This year was pretty wild. I got my PhD and got tear gassed for the first time, did a lot of media, and published a dozen or so articles in places like Haaretz, the Daily Beast, and MDR. Here are a few professional things I'm most happy about, looking back...
As always, it's my closest intellectual collaborators who buoy me up when otherwise I would be hiding among the coral. My and @emmibevensee's @C4ARR report on ecofascism was a landmark for me, and really was exciting and energizing to work on.

This piece with @shane_burley1 in @haaretzcom felt powerful and prescient. Shane has a talent for adding serious substance to whatever he engages with, which is part of his heart-felt dedication. Its always a privilege to work w him. https://www.haaretz.com/us-news/.premium-portland-trump-s-testing-ground-for-authoritarian-rule-1.9009427
First piece in @thedailybeast was a pleasure to work on and mind expanding. In the US, we have our own systems, and zooming out to transnational implications is a heavy lift. @ljtost is a brilliant coauthor without whom it would've have been impossible. https://www.thedailybeast.com/rfk-jrs-latest-anti-vaxx-stunt-backed-by-weird-pro-qanon-german-group-querdenken-711?ref=author
I'm especially glad that I got to connect with @mslaurabliss at @CityLab, because along with deep data dives, they helped tease out the rising violence. Here, I'm quoted saying, "I think there will be more plans for targeted bombings..." https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-10-16/is-far-right-political-violence-getting-worse?sref=fzXhlHko
Of course, the collaboration with Germany's MDR was really rewarding. I got to work with @EmanuelStoakes and Trond Strøm, who are really on top of their craft, and we had some fun discussions, arguments, and constructive, complimentary processes. https://www.mdr.de/nachrichten/politik/gesellschaft/attentat-halle-rechter-terror-online-community-100.html
And last one—a report I contributed to with folks at @ncri_io , American University's Polarization and Extremism Research Innovation Lab, and Congressman Denver Riggleman on QAnon made a little splash. https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/15/us/qanon-trump-twitter-invs/index.html
So those would be the big things, looking back, that I was p stoked about this year (outside of my dissertation work, which, let us never speak of it again lol). H/t to everyone who took time to get lunch, have a drink, or otherwise enjoy life w me, espesh Cat and Fran.
Next year, looking fwd to: publishing academic articles that have been coming along for years; working on my book on urban water and climate change, fiercely defending human rights and the environment, and building community resilience. Cheers and happy holidays.
