Business Ideas #4 : Making a blog ✍️

In a previous thread, you learned that once upon a time, i ve got a blog who had an average of 60 000 visitors per month.

This was a great period of my life and today i want to share with you how i did it, my win and my mistakes.

THREAD
Disclaimer ⚠️

Repeat after me : This is not a get rich quick scheme.

Making a blog is a long journey.

It will take time to create an audience.

The first months, you will barely hit anything.

It's more a side hustle that you will build brick by brick.

It's a digital asset.
Is the market saturated ?

I don't think so because everyone had something to share.

The keyword is Value.
If you can bring value to people, you have chance to succeed.

But it will be harder to succeed depending your niche.
How i choosed my niche ?

I was passionnate about gaming and writing.
I combined the two.

So what's your hobby?
What's the thing you are really good at ?
In what field you consider yourself like an expert ?

If you can answer, bingo you have your idea.
Now let's be realistic.

If you are passionnate about something nobody really know, it will be hard.

You need people who need informations.

To illustrate, there are more people googling soccer than curling.

If the goals is money, don't choose a subject without any traction
How do i start ?!

Wordpress + domain name + premium theme
Cost = average 80 dollar then 15-30 dollar a year.

Before starting the first blog post :

Think about menu / category/structure

It's a mandatory step, don't skip it.

You should have a clear vision about how you want your blog to look like.

Once you find a good structure, you can go to the fun part : writing.
I was very good at videogames.
So i writed stuff to be good at videogames.

There are no secret formula.

Do a schedule📅

Try to put out 3-5 very good post a week

After few month, your blog have 50 posts

BE CONSISTENT !

Accept the fact you will not have any reader weeks.
SEO is your main source of audience will come from google.

Be concise in your title. = The best 2020 book in motivation

Think about what you would type on google to find my blog post.

Take care of your permalink : .com/best2020motivationbook is better than .com/28122020

Writing tips #1 ✔️

When you write, have a plan.

Use title correctly.

Try to keep the same structure. every time.

Outside very high valuable post, dont write a novel.

Keep the same word count.

It will ease you writing and help the google bot crawl your website
Writing tips #2 ✔️

Read books and take note of the formula you love.

Read other successfull blogs in your niche.

How do they structure the blogs ?
The blog post ?
Which emotions do they try to trigger to their audience ?

Don't try to reinvent the wheel, study and replicate
What if i don't know how to write ?!

Dude, did you think i know what i was doing ?

I dropped out school, have poor grammar in my native language but i learned.

I still suck in english but i'm here writing content.

If you love to write : Just do it.
Use pictures !

Pictures are a key component to a good blog post.

Think about why youtube creator take a really good care about their miniature.

This is the same for a blog.

You need good pictures to illustrate your words.

Nobody like to read a wall of text.
Learn to use internal link

In your blog post, you should have link towards other part of your blog.

It could be at the start, at the end or both.

It will help the SEO part and keep your visitors a little more longer here.
What about external links ?

I used this a lot to build my audience.

I writed free articles for others sucessfull blog and they let me put a link towards my work in it.

It's great SEO !

I writed for many blogs and all those links towards my website build a fast audience.
Social medias

Social medias presence is mandatory.

Create fb/twitter/YT/insta...

Use 2 of them

I don't recommend all because it can be time consuming.

It's better to build a good audience on one platform than a poor one on many.

Linking towards your blog also increase SEO
Which social medias should i use ?

Where is your niche ?

Money --> Twitter and youtube is best. People don't like are more timid on this subject on facebook.

Fitness --> Youtube and instagram will give you a better tractions

Just go where your audience already is
Other source of audience ?

- Reddit : sub to your niche and replicate your high value post
- Quora : add value to guy who seek advice in your niche and respond to them
- Youtube/Twitter /FB ... : interact within your niche, engage
How to keep my audience ?

- newsletter
- private group (discord, telegram,fb ...)

Build a direct link between you and them.

People like to feel special, unique and part of something greater.
How to monetize ?!

- google ads : it really depend of your niche. But many have VERY POOR ads revenue. Other have great CPC (cost per click) and CPM

- affiliation : you talk about phone ? you put affiliate link about phone case, apps, phone ...
- sponsoring : if you had a great audience, company will hire your service to talk about their product.

- premium plan : once you build your audience, you can create a premium plan with a better experience for your daily user (no ads, more content... be creative)
- create a digital product : book, movie, diet plan, workout plan, course, ...

- coaching : you are the best in your field, you can sell your competence on web visio/ phone call or live

- create your own brand : more complex but definitely doable

- patreon : direct support
How much visitors to make a living ?!

This a a very tricky question.
It depends of your niche, marketer talent and your ability to monetize.

There are great writer out there who are poor with monetization part.
There are poor writer who are great with the money part.
How to handle haters / critics ?

When you put content out, you will have haters or critics.
For 100 good people, there are always 1 dickhead.

If it's constructive critic : it's gold, listen, don't be stubborn.

If it's pure hate : ignore and don't interact.
Last but not least : Have FUN !

It's not your work.

It's you sharing what you love to people who love what you love.

I believe people can read between the lines if you do something genuinely or not.

So just enjoy the journey, smile and have fun.
