I’ve gotta say, fellow white folks, you’re really saying a lot when you classify “using racist slurs” as “normal teen behavior.”

Interested in how these beliefs of “using racial slurs is normal teen behavior” and “racism will die out with old folks” can coexist in the same brain.

And the thing is, for many white teens, using racial slurs probably is considered “normal” in their circles. But that speaks to the pervasive violence of white supremacy, not to any benignity.

All in all, the reactions of so many to what’s happening just illustrates how utterly unaccustomed whiteness and white folks are to......accountability. Of any kind.

Also, I might add, how unaccustomed we are to Black folks fighting back. A lot of the white screeching happening right now is in direct response to that specifically.

I see many white people obviously view abuse of Black folks as a white rite of passage, unremarkable as ditching school. A thing one does when young; come out the other side as a well-adjusted adult.

Reminder: we leave a trail of devastation.

Black people are, in fact, people.
