i made an EP! it’s called Jaw Bra--20 minutes of high-energy throwback mashup bops to get you thru winter lockdown

fun fact: i arranged the whole thing in @FUSERgame! it’s lightly edited in audacity, but it's totes playable in Fuser if you’re fast :3 https://soundcloud.com/user-452090197/jaw-bra

let me gush about @fusergame for a second:
i got Fuser in late November, and as a lifelong Girl Talk fan and die-hard rhythm game fanatic, i was immediately smitten. it's a good game and an excellent music toy, and i kind of just started noodling with it all the time

then on dec 2, i got double jaw surgery. the recovery for DJS fucking sucks: 5 days of misery, plus at least 6 weeks of resting and slowly de-swelling as the bones stitch back together. couldn't chew, couldn't lift, couldn't exercise--even by covid standards i had nothing to do
that recovery was when i started getting more into @FUSERgame. it was one of the few things i could do while sprawled out exhausted on the couch. i'd challenge myself nightly to make a random crate and play with my least-used song, only stopping when i made a decent 32-bar sample
after a while, all those samples started to pile up. it was annoying to try and recall them on the switch, so i started keeping a database of particular bangers. eventually i realized i probably had enough to fill at least 10 minutes, so i decided to try and make a set for fun
i performed the 10min set a few times on a friend discord, where everyone said it was a jam. then another friend was like "you should do a set at our virtual new year's party!"
i was stoked, but it turned out the slots were 30 minutes. so i decided, fuck it, let's make more

so i hammered away at it until it was a smooth 24 minutes. cutting the chaff in this edit (quick transitions are hard on a switch y'all, even with a pro controller), and it became this tight 20 minute bop https://soundcloud.com/user-452090197/jaw-bra
here's why i say this: in creative tech, we love to say our tools democratize the creative process. well i've never used a tool that did so like @FUSERgame. ProTools etc were always too intense for me try... but Fuser made it accessible, & now i have an EP https://soundcloud.com/user-452090197/jaw-bra
oh if it wasn't obvs, a jaw bra is a wrap that holds icepacks & keeps em on your jaw/TMJ area. i wore mine constantly during early recovery, including playing fuser. the album art is me w/an icy jaw bra, ice face mask, & winter hat (bc cold). i call it my Strega Thanos lewk
