I was #fired from #residency. After reporting an attending for assaulting a patient (patient filed a police report) and attempting to organize residents re: #dutyhourviolations, I was placed on leave for 2 months, made to undergo a Fit for Duty eval (I passed) and then fired.
Thank you, everyone, for the support. I reported the assault to the medical board. ACGME does not intervene with dismissal issues. The ombudsperson was already involved. I come from poverty and would appreciate any donations or shares: https://www.gofundme.com/f/fin-aid-erica-medical-training?utm_source=customer&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet&utm_medium=copy_link_all
Things I've learned: 1- Take contemporaneous notes during any and all interactions with faculty/admin. They are doing the same. 2- Identify true allies and be strategic with whom and what you are choosing to share re: resident organizing. 3- Some residents are cops #residencytips
Fun fact: I was the Hospital's Employee of the Year in 2019. And in August 2020, the clinic staff made me Resident of the Month. I was not terminated for anything related to patient care.
I am not a UC Davis resident. I went there for medical school and was in a completely different residency.
