Discussed the diff. between @PakStat and @StateBank_Pak data on trade @CEJatIBA today. SBP measures receipts and payments, while PBS measures border movements. Hence, the difference. However, in the long-term the two should converge unless there are major discrepancies. 1/3
I further showed the difference in exports during the recent months as reported by @StateBank_Pak and @PakStat. Movement across borders may have likely been hit harder than export receipts, while recovery of the former seems to be stronger. The role of concessions to buyers? 2/n
It is interesting to note that imports from China into Pakistan are more when reported by @PakStat than by @StateBank_Pak. This could be due to how payments for imported machinery are made to the Chinese sellers (payment transactions may not have been recorded in PAK). 3/3
