Djibouti's recognition of Somaliland's independence is a win/win

1 - Djibouti has been isolated by the trilateral integration deal between Somalia, Eritrea & Ethiopia. Somaliland recognition is the boldest response by winning itself an ally for good.

2- Djibouti was against Somaliland independence due to the compilation between our ports. With 30 years deal between SL & DP world and with an ever expanding Ethiopian demand, this competition is over.

3 - In contrast, Djibouti problem with Eritrea is territorial, existential and far from over. With Isyas being the master mind behind the trilateral deal, Djibouti desperately needs a true ally with military power. The more Somaliland is recognised the stronger of an ally it is.

4- Similar to how Abiy surprised everyone with peace deal with Eritrea, Djibouti might follow the same style by recognising Somaliland.

5 - By being the first country to recognise SL, Djibouti can make the best deal NOW before its too late with Somaliland recent victories in IR

6 - Unlike Kenya and Ethiopia, Djibouti is the least country affected by Somalian response to Somaliland recognition. Besides, Somalia didn't show any Somalinimo when it sided with Eritrea against Djibouti despite what Djibouti has done for Somalia.

7- Having invested in recent Somaliland and Somalia talks, Djibouti knows how impossible it is for Somalia and Somaliland to unite. So recognition does not make it worse.

8- Being a French Somaliland territory, Djibouti understands the historical facts supporting Somaliland
