Why will I keep voting for DMK? My great grandpa was a farm labourer. My grandpa, for the first time bought a couple of acres of land in a village in Thiruvannamalai & farmed it. Both didn’t go to school. My dad was the first literate in our family history. He completed ITI. 1/n
I am the first one to go to college, finished MBBS at the prestigious Madurai Medical College, completed my masters from AIIMS. Now I’m a paediatrician & physician-scientist in a reputed institution and I’m conducting global research to reduce mother & child deaths (2/n)
I have numerous peer-reviewed high impact scientific publications to my credit. My wife is a lady of excellence and a doctor in an institute of national importance. I’m sure our child will contribute to humanity much more than what we can dream of (3/n)
We have multiple people to thank for. Mr Periyar for empowering my granddad to buy a piece of land, Mr Kamaraj for feeding my dad at school, Mr Annadurai who taught self respect, Mr Nehru who started ITIs & public sector companies like the one where my dad was an electrician 4/n
Mr VP Singh & Mr Kalaignar for mandal commission & OBC reservation for my dad’s employment, Mr Kalaignar who gave single window counselling system for my medical seat & scholarship during my education. We are grateful for the social justice meted out to us by these leaders5/n
Without them our family would have remained the same for ages. I personally know of thousands of families like me lifted out of casteist slavery and poverty, and are now self respecting doctors, engineers, teachers & professionals globally. (6/n)
Like any self respecting resident of Tamilnadu, I’ll vote for a party that’ll carry the social justice forward. That’s the only way to prevent ourselves being pushed back to dark ages of slavery by varnashrama dharma. If we don’t, we’re doing injustice to the next generations
