Everyone is a villain at this point. Tubbo, whilst putting the people of his nation first, seems to have more emphasis on the power of the people of his nation. He cares for them, but not in the sense that he understands that he is neglecting their happiness by
considering about safety and peace first. Peace doesn't always necessarily guarantee happiness and, whilst the people of L'manburg are safe, they aren't happy as they don't have much freedom. They can't go against their government and if they do anything violent, they are
instantly considered a threat (ironically, much like Wilbur was. Instead of people fully understanding his actions and his reasoning, they labelled him the villain and moved on simply because he opposed their power). I also feel as if Tubbo places more emphasis on the more
material side of L'manburg, as if he believes that the nation is the bricks and stone that make the place up - not it's people. Exiling Tommy was proof of that and, whilst it was logically the right thing to do, morally he has removed a symbol of hope and revolution from the
nation and allied with Dream, a common enemy who has always caused so much suffering. If this outcome was the best for the nation, why is it people are leaving and starting to build nations of their own?

At the same token, Tommy isn't exempt either. Much like Tubbo, he places
emphasis on his discs. He doesn't care much about the people within his life (he put the discs before his friendship with Tubbo, dealing the iconic line that they were the only thing he cares about) nor values their happiness and the memories he made with them. Whilst one could
argue that the pursuit for the discs is a way to rid the SMP of conflict - I disagree. Once Tommy has all the discs he has a substantial amount of power over Dream. As seen by when Tommy had spirit's remains, Dream bowed for only a few seconds before becoming aggressive. Neither
of them will give up for what they want, regardless of how powerless they are or the position they are in and that is what perpetuates this war. Dream wants the discs because they give him power over those who oppose him. Tommy wants the discs because it's kind of like a one up
against Dream. However, remove Tommy's interest and need for the discs, all of a sudden you lose that power and thus truly remove the conflict. Tommy is siding with an anarchist who has harmed multiple people whilst also refusing to take ANY blame for actions within the SMP
that happen. He blamed the destruction of Manburg on Wilbur when, if you think about it, Tommy had the power to deter Wilbur and yet chose not to. In fact he still continues to blame Wilbur for everything that happens to him when the exile was his own fault and he needs to take
accountability for being reckless enough that it gave Dream the ammunition he needed to be put in a position of obvious power again. Tommy cannot keep running from the things he does and put himself in a position of the victim as he has caused as much harm to himself, his friends
and the people of L'manburg as much as Tubbo has. Tubbo neglects their happiness. Tommy neglects their happiness as well as their safety and yet cries when no one visits him and doubts their intentions. They are both villains, paralleling similar arcs of their predecessors yet,
there are differences. Tubbo wants peace. Schlatt did not. Wilbur wanted to remove power from the SMP so people could finally be free and all the pain and hurt that had been endured could finally be put to rest. Tommy does not.

About the Dream point I made earlier too, Tommy and
Dream are two sides of the same coin. They are both extremely determined and resilient. They provoke eachother to act. If dream has full power, Tommy goes against him and tries to remove him from that position. As soon as Tommy gets some power (which is why Dream fears him),
Dream does everything he can to put Tommy back in his place. You really think Tommy gaining all the discs will stop the conflict in the SMP?

I understand that Villain is a subjective term. Some people may value morality over logic and others may look at that analysis and find
nothing wrong with certain actions. I'd like to refer to Techno's quote "the thing about heroes is that they don't get happy endings"

Well

There are no such things as heroes
