[Indian Military History]
- Combined thread for three Services covering Indian Military History from pre-1947 to current times.
Naushera ka Sher - Brigadier Usman.
- Pakistan desperately tried to get him on their side but he refused.
- Having lost Jhangar, he slept on floor vowing to do till he recaptured it.
- Which he did.
- His grave needs to be a national monument. https://twitter.com/sneheshphilip/status/1343492983547555841?s=20

In continuation of above tweets about 60 Para Field Ambulance and Lt Col Rangaraj:
- Doctors and Nursing Staff of 60 Para Field Ambulance gave exemplary performance during Korean War. Even when they were under fire.
- Americans and Canadians had very high praise for this outfit.
- For their service in Korean War, 60 Para Field won 2 Maha Vir Chakras, 06 Vir Chakras and 01 Bar to Vir Chakra, and 25 Mention-in-Dispatches.
- It stayed for 3.5 years in Korean and treated more than 200,000 wounded
In the words of US Commander:
“I was immediately struck by the (Indians’) efficiency. That small unit, adapted for an airborne role, has carried out 103 operations. which is quite outstanding for that type of unit … probably 50 of those operated owed their lives to those men.”
"In September, 1951, while attached to Commonwealth troops, they treated 448 casualties in six days of fighting. A month later they evacuated (under fire) another 150 wounded. In many other clashes later they were still in the thick of it. The Indians saved hundreds of wounded"
"Wounded Canadian Korean vets, some from Kapyong, have told me of their great admiration for the Indian medical teams who helped save their lives. It says something about the myopic way we teach history that this unit’s thrilling story is so little known."

I will in subsequent tweet give a break-up of Indian troops which remained loyal to British during 1857-58 and fought alongside them in suppressing the revolts. https://twitter.com/Cawnporiaah/status/1343965536535728132?s=20
India troops loyal to British in 1857 and who fought alongside them:
- T01 : Delhi (1857)
- T02 : Lucknow, 1858.
- T03 : Cawnpore.
- Hindustani Muslims = Ranghars = Muslim Rajputs.
- Punjabisation of British Indian Army and Martial Race Theory makes sense?
So, the above data set seems to have quite a consternation. I've been accused of plating a narrative. Which I think means showing Sikhs in bad light. First, let's accept that the data is historical fact. Period. It is a snapshot of our collective history. Secondly, it wasn't +
+ meant to question patriotism of Sikhs or credentials of Sikh farmers agitating against farm bills. What it does show that our history is not black and white. And no one group has a moral high ground to preach patriotism to other or claim some sort of martial superiority. +
+ If you scratch the surface, there are plenty of such incidents on every side. People took decisions as per self interest and exigencies present at that point in time. So, stop claiming X did this for others, is superior to everyone else.
